History
The domain of Château Saint-Cyrgues is precisely located where the Church of Saint-Circe des Marges was found in ruins in 1654. The latter was part of the St-Cyrgues Priory , which was dependent upon Psalmodie’s abbey, where the monks already cultivated vines .
Today, the former Priory has totally disappeared. As for the domain, it was probably seized as clerical property during the French Revolution. It then changed hands several times, and one of its landlords had a son who died in the United States during the War of Independence.
Some of the Domain’s plots were named “Amérique” in his memory.
The appellation “Cuvée d’Amérique” is currently given to the red and white wines that are aged in barrels.
In 1991, Evelyne and Guy de Mercurio, a young Swiss couple, fell in love with this plot of land and decided to restore it to its former glory.

Their motto became:
For the love of wine.
Love of life emanates from the love of the Earth our mother, how could we not invest in She that has given us her all.
With Love, let us work, the vines, conscensciously ans carefully preserving nature, which will offer in exchange wholesome fruits with intense flavour, then with passion, let us produce subtle wines, capable of re-kindling the taste of live, childhood emotions and intense pleasures.

Simply for Love
